Children’s expansion, Century Club donation signal busy year

So much has happened since our inaugural issue of Giving and Growing, giving us plenty of good news about the Campaign for Children’s of Mississippi to report.

Construction of the new seven-story children’s tower adjacent to Batson Children’s Hospital was initiated after the Dec. 1 groundbreaking ceremony. Work is now under way on the 340,000-square-foot expansion that will include 88 private neonatal intensive care rooms, 10 operating suites, new intensive care rooms, a pediatric imaging center and a specialty clinic, as well as a new lobby and conference area. The tower is set to open in August 2020.

In January, Friends of Children’s Hospital received a record $1.2 million from Century Club Charities, the host organization of the Sanderson Farms Championship. In 2016, Friends of Children’s Hospital pledged $20 million to the campaign, and the Century Club gift will go toward that total. The campaign’s total is approaching $63 million, an astonishing amount for an effort less than two years old!

We could not be at this point without each of you and your efforts, and we are grateful for your dedication to Mississippi’s children.
